Chuggers
Now, before you start off thinking that you've come across a debauchery site I can assure you, you have not.
You've come across me and my disdain about charities begging for help. This disdain doesn't extend to all charities. Every local charity needs your help and you should do that. You should buy the raffle tickets or donate the prizes and help all local people make their lives better.
My ire is charities like Unicef. The absolute charity muggers I absolutely drew the line at donating to them a long time ago. At first it was because they paid their CEO's too much compared to what people needed.
Now it's just because I won't be told by overpaid millionaires how to spend my average monthly salary, Let's take SoccerAid as an example.
Lots of ex-players and celebs running around, England v The rest of the world with millionaires standing by in the breaks to tell the viewers to donate £20, £30, £40 by texting the amount to a number. Or what you can afford. Hey guys, how much have you donated? They would only have ever thought of donating if it gave them a tax break.
To return to charity muggers. The CEO of Unicef earns over $600,000 a year as does their American CEO. Over one million dollars per year on two people who sit in offices, claim expenses and jet off on holidays only millionaires can afford.
When you read about the American CEO you read that his salary is just 1% of all funds raised, as if this is a win.
The UK, as a country, is struggling. People can't even do a weeks shopping without a loyalty card helping them out. Which is, of course, shite, because for the entirety of Creme Eggs run this year Tesco had them on Clubcard price. That tells us that Tesco can afford to sell Creme eggs cheaper even without the card price or else they would have had to drop the promotion at least once to make some money at the regular price. They were still making a huge profit selling the on Clubcard prices.People might exclaim 'Creme eggs! How is that relevant?'
But if Tesco can afford to sell creme eggs at discount price for all the time they are on sale then they don't need to charge the higher price for anyone else and the fact that they do is pure greed. It should be against the law to pit people in poverty together.
What's wrong here is that the very rich tease the poor and needy and we let them away with it. We see the photo shoots and the adverts where they endorse us to hand over our hard earned money giving to the charities but we never know if they do or don't themselves.
Celebs are cheating us. They want to reel us in and make us sign up to give to charities that they accept money for advertising for but don't donate to themselves. They want to make you, the average person, feel guilty for children who might be helped by your £2 per month.
There's a saying, "Charity Begins A Home". It sure does.
